Whitinsville, MA, USA, December QQ, 2011 – When U.S.-based professional loudspeaker manufacturer
Eastern Acoustic Works® (EAW®) announced its newest generation of cinema loudspeaker systems, EAW’s
Singapore distributor E&E knew exactly where they should go first – Golden Village’s newest eight-screen cinema
in Singapore.
“I had already been working with Golden Village on this project when these products were in development,” said
Ronald Goh, E&E’s president. “Both EAW and Golden Village represent the very finest quality, so they seemed
like a perfect match.” Mr. Goh and Golden Village originally specified the EAW products for four of the eight
screens, but after evaluating them in the actual installation, Golden Village decided that they needed EAW
products in all eight screens.
“We are very proud that we could move quickly to make Golden Village the world’s first installation of this cutting-
edge audio technology,” Mr. Goh said.
“Golden Village is proud to be the first cinema in the world to install EAW’s latest generation of cutting edge loud
speakers,” said Mr. Lee Kin Guan, Technical Services Manager for Golden Village. “We have created yet another
milestone through this installation by providing our patrons a phenomenal, state of the art audio experience at the
new GV Katong.”
EAW, best known for their work with concert tours, performing arts venues and stadiums, has once again brought
their rigorous engineering approach to the cinema market. “Until the 1970s, cinema loudspeakers were the best
professional loudspeakers available,” said EAW founder and audio industry legend Mr. Kenton Forsythe. “It’s
where the industry started.”
Companies like EAW then took audio technology to a much higher level, but for other types of venues like concert
halls and nightclubs. In the 1990s, EAW produced a line of high-performance loudspeaker systems, and the
products installed at Golden Village represent the newest generation of that technology.
“We bring a higher level of performance to cinema than any other manufacturer,” Mr. Forsythe continued. “From
transducer specifications and horn designs to system integration, these are fully professional products. Even the
enclosures and the mounting systems have been thoroughly vetted to our highest professional standards.”
Mr. Forsythe recently received the Parnelli Award as Innovator of the Year, a prestigious audio industry honor. He
is widely recognized as having pioneered many advances in loudspeaker design that have become standard
practice in the industry.
Mr. Forsythe praised Mr. Goh and the E&E team for helping inspire this latest line of cinema products. “Basically,
Ron (Goh) said ‘EAW makes great loudspeakers, and I have a relationship with a great cinema chain. I need
some great cinema loudspeakers to put in this great cinema chain.’ What could I say but ‘we’ll do it’?”
For his part, Mr. Goh had high praise for EAW and their ability to deliver on time. “The Golden Village project was
already underway when EAW decided to create this new line,” Mr. Goh said. “It was amazing to see how quickly
they could work to develop and manufacture these products. EAW came through for me so I could come through
for Golden Village.”
