Singapore, 5 January 2011 – Regional audio-visual giant Electronics and Engineering
Pte Ltd (E&E) will be launching a bond-free scholarship at Nanyang Polytechnic. The
E&E-NYP Scholarship is offered exclusively to final year students in the Diploma in
Electronics, Computer and Communication Engineering course who read the new Audio
Visual (AV) System Design elective. E&E, who has been working closely with the Media
Development Authourity (MDA) to develop programmes to address the demand for skilled
AV professionals, collaborated with NYP to offer this two-pronged approach to grow the
talent pool and further motivate youths to take up the profession.
The demand for these professionals stems from the need to support Singapore’s key
economic sectors, most notably the Tourism sector. The growth of this sector has seen
addendum growth in areas that fuel visitors’ interest - Singapore is now the top convention
city in Asia, and is Asia’s broadcast hub and an international focal point for performing arts.
The increasing need for graduates trained in AV Systems Design is clear.
“As one of the largest AV system integrators here, we are confident of the growth and
potential of the sector. We are keen to continue growing our team of highly-qualified and
savvy AV professionals. By working with Nanyang Polytechnic to grow the talent pool, we
are sure that the industry, and Singapore, will benefit with the increased professionalism and
capability of the field,” shared Mr Joe Fong, Deputy Managing Director of Electronics and
Engineering Pte Ltd.
The scholarship recipients will also have the opportunity for internships at E&E, and work
alongside some of the most experienced AV professionals for six months. These are the
minds behind the phenomenal sound and visual experiences in theme park rides (Sci Fi
City at Resorts World Sentosa), live performances (Marina Bay Sands Theatre), and many
others.
Said Mr Chan Yew Meng, Senior Director for the School of Engineering, NYP, “We are
pleased that our efforts to nurture talents to support Singapore’s growth are being enhanced
by a very established and credible industry partner, Electronics and Engineering Pte Ltd.
The students who read the new Audio Visual System Design elective will have in-depth
knowledge built on a sound foundation of Electronics, Computer and Communication
Engineering, and we believe that this combination of expertise will enable them to have a
very successful career in this field.”
Final year students who are eligible may apply for the new scholarship from 9 January 2012.
